a snippet or two real quick-like

when i picked j-man up from his dad this morning, he got in to the car and i asked him how he was doing. 

"just a minute mom".... then he proceeded to show monkey, who was strapped into her carseat next to him, and i quote:  "how to 'buckle your safety belt when you get older'."

soooo cute.

then he told me this joke:

what did the little lightbulb say to its mother?
i wuv you watts and watts.

on another note, i wanted to update monkey too..... she is speaking like mad.

besides "please" and "thank you" - yesterday she surprised me with a "you're welcome".  woo!

she also says "pretty" when she puts on her faux jewelry (basically mardi gras beads), or hair stuff. i refer to her hair clips and bows as "pretties".

we were getting her ready for her bath. she pointed to the water and proclaimed "keeeen!" - clean, of course.

oh gosh there are more. i have to get better at writing them down!

 

nearly two weeks

wow, has it been nearly two weeks - or more, i'm bad at math - since i blogged?  i've been slightly busy.  we went to my cousin's wedding in fabulous las vegas.  it was a blast.  here are some of my favorites from the weekend. ok well they're all my favorites and PHOTO OVERLOAD! the prettiest bride, the most handsome groom.  i love these guys.

it's taken me way too long to post this heartfelt thank you.

a while back i was the lucky winner of libby's blog giveway.  i received a super fun package with one of my favorite candies (sweettarts!), a target gift card and a sweet little baby for monkey, from whom i had to sneak this doll so i could take this photo. she loves it!  and i tore into the sweettarts first thing.

thanks again libby!

shopping at target yesterday.  she thought she needed to blow out the lights on the tree.  ahh, sooo cute!

just say no monday

first of all, what is up.  i have the radio on and they are playing CHRISTMAS music. for one thing... the weather outside is NOT frightful, just shut up and stop reminding me that it will be soon! whatever happened to letting THANKSGIVING happen before you bombard us with this!  please.

ok so maybe i woke up a little crabby. what is up with DAYLIGHT SAVINGS.  i think we should just say no. how do we change that law?  my girl got up at 4:22 this morning. so very not cool.

and after tomorrow - there will be no more stupid political ads! hooray!

happy monday to all and to all a good day. and not in a christmas-y sort of way.

i have to share a couple of cute girlie things.  she is asserting herself so well, but she has given some words new meanings. or really, just not bothered to learn the correct word. at least she knows what she wants.  yesterday, we were coming out of target.  a gust of cool air hit us and from her perch on daddy's shoulders, she said, "oooooh!  HOT!"...  she recognizes temperature but hasn't affixed the word "cold" to the opposite. likewise, she says "up" when she wants you to pick her up.  but when she wants to get DOWN, from your arms, from off the bed, whatever ~ it's still "UP!" 

she can also count to five. it is beyond cute. i've tried to catch it on video but when i jolt for the video camera she clams up. she tends to do it when she's in her own little world, she'll take off her socks and 'count' her toes. she'll sing the abc song (muddling through most of it)...  but she won't do it if you ask. this girl does nothing on demand.

except for for daddy. he can get her to do a lot more things than i can.   when she pulls things out of the cupboard, daddy will tell her to "put it back". and she will. and shut the door even.  crazy.

halloween chuckle

once there was a little ghost who wanted to go out haunting for halloween. but alas, he had nothing to wear.

so he went to all the other ghosts to see if he could borrow a costume.

but, he had to stay home.

because nobody gave a sheet!!!
